ISO 9001:2000 - Introduction for Management
End result is the implementation plan for certification

This is an Awareness and Planning Workshop.
(for 1st time certification and transitioning to ISO 9001:2000)

The workshop results in management's plan for achieving ISO 9001 certification or transitioning to the new standard. The key requirements of the ISO 9001 2000 Standard are reviewed in the context of the present performance of the company, and the objectives that management has for the organization.

Typically, this is a six-hour workshop involving senior management.
Senior management often invites other personnel to attend part of the presentation.

Fee: $200.00 per hour (number of attendees is at the discretion of the organization, and does not affect the cost)

Objective of Workshop:
The deliverable is the preparation by the organization's management of preliminary draft plans for the achievement of ISO 9001 2000 certification, (or transition to the new standard), and initial performance improvement goals.

Content of Workshop:

Part One:  A Preview of ISO 9001:2000

Topic Purpose
Similarities and differences between ISO 9000:1994 and ISO 9001:2000 (for companies transitioning from ISO 9000:1994). ISO 9001:2000 is a fundamental change in approach from ISO 9000:1994. This segment addresses the changes and their potential impact on the organization.
The structure of ISO 9001:2000 An overview of the Standard
Perceptions of the potential impact of the new system are obtained from a Brainstorming Session. The information learned from this session determines the tailored approach of the rest of the workshop.


Part Two:  Planning for ISO 9001:2000 Certification

Topic Purpose
ISO 9001:2000 is a process-based management system. To understand ISO 9001:2000, it is necessary to agree to the requirements of managing through processes. This segment describes this approach.
A review of the Clauses of the Standard and the requirements for their implementation and use. The Standard must be understood before it can be implemented. This segment provides a brief introduction to the Clauses of ISO 9001:2000.
The requirements for achieving ISO 9001:2000 certification. To create a successful certification plan, it is necessary to understand the strategic requirements for certification. This segment addresses this need.
Options for implementation This segment describes a selection of proven first-time certification and transition methodologies.
Senior management often invites those who will work closely with the Standard to attend this segment.
Establish first-time certification or transition plan. Workshop members are now conversant with the requirements and successful methods of certifying or transitioning to ISO 9001 2000. This awareness enables a draft transition plan to be established.

Input from senior management defines the implementation approach best suited to the needs of the organization.
