SQAP:2000 Standard

Topic 1:  The Scope of Work
The steps to becoming validated to the SQAP:2000 Standard include:

Step 1:  Registration Activity
Prepare a Registration Application and submit it to the National Simulator Program office. The application requires the following:
  • A Process Map of the Key Functions of the Simulator operation
  • A Master List of the documents used in the operation
  • The Quality Policy for the Simulator operation
  • The Quality Objectives for the Simulator operation
  • Contact details for the SQAP Management Representative
  • Preliminary date for Validation of the organization's Simulator operation
Step 2:   Prepare a Quality Manual
Following receipt of Registration information from NSP (the National Simulator Program), the organization shall:
  • Prepare a Quality Manual in accordance with the requirements of the SQAP:2000 Standard
    (The Quality Manual shall include the information contained in the Registration Application.)
Step 3:  Document Procedures, Processes and Protocols
  • Write the Procedures required by the Standard
  • Write descriptions of the organization's processes and any additional activities needed to meet the requirements of SQAP:2000
Step 4:  Install the documented System
  • Insure that the requirements of the Document Control Procedure and the Records Procedure are being followed.
  • Insure that each Department understands and agrees with the descriptions of their tasks that are contained in the Protocols, Procedures or other process documents
  • Formally release the documents
            The Sponsor forwards a copy of the Quality Manual to NSP.

Step 5:  Check, Correct and Review the System
  • Conduct Internal Audits of the System
  • Implement Corrective Actions, as required
  • Management conducts reviews of the effectiveness of the System
Step 6:  Validation Audit
  • Conduct a readiness review of the System
  • NSP conducts the Validation Audit
  • The organization is Validated to SQAP:2000 Standards


Topic 2.   Assistance in achieving validation to SQAP:2000

Quality Resource Center (QRC) offers Full Service Support to assist in the Validation Process

Full Service Support from QRC includes the following 6 Steps:

Step 1:  Registration with NSP
  • QRC Awareness and Planning Forum
    Review requirements and intent of SQAP program
    Collect information required for SQAP Quality Manual
    Prepare Process Map to SQAP requirements
    Prepare SQAP Quality Policy and Objectives
    QRC assists in preparing the Application document for submittal to NSP
Step 2:   Prepare a Quality Manual
  • QRC writes the SQAP Quality Manual from information obtained during the Awareness and Planning Forum
  • Organization reviews and redlines the Manual
  • QRC finalizes the Manual
Step 3:   Document Procedures, Processes and Protocols
  • QRC conducts a series of interviews to identify existing processes and their operations
  • QRC documents existing processes and any additional processes required by SQAP
  • Organization redlines documents/QRC finalizes the documents to SQAP Standards
Step 4:   Install the documented System
  • QRC installs the documented system in each area and checks that the documentation describes the actual activities
Step 5:   Check, Correct and Review the System
  • QRC trains a SQAP Internal Auditor team (or conducts the audits for the organization)
  • QRC advises on Corrective Actions, as necessary
  • QRC attends first Management Review Meeting in an advisory capacity
Step 6:   Validation
  • QRC conduct a Validation Readiness Review of the System and reports the findings to the Management Review Meeting
  • QRC supports the organization in its implementation of Corrective Actions
  • If required, QRC provides support during the Validation Audit


Topic 3.   Assistance in maintaining validation to the SQAP:2000

Quality Resource Center offers a Customized Service Support Program for maintaining the SQAP system.

Customized Support - Method of Operation:
  • QRC assigns a SQAP Maintenance Coordinator to the organization (The Maintenance Coordinator is supported by QRC's SQAP resources.)
  • The Maintenance Coordinator usually liaises with the organization's SQAP:2000 Management Representative
  • The fees for the QRC services are calculated on a "services used" basis.
Customized Support List of Services
  • Document writing
    As new documentation is introduced, or existing documents are changed
  • Internal Audits
    Conducting the organization's SQAP Internal Audits, or, providing "as needed" audit capacity when the organization's Internal Auditors are unable to maintain the Audit Schedule
  • Validation or Surveillance Audits
    System support during Validation or Surveillance Audits
  • Corrective Action Program
    Support for the organization's Corrective Action activities
  • Training and Coaching
    Providing training or coaching services as required (e.g. Self Evaluation training or Internal Auditor training and coaching)
  • Self Evaluations and Ratings
    Conducting "self" evaluations of the SQAP System and preparing Ratings assessments for review by Management before forwarding to NSP
